SATURN SHARING

Have you seen the new Saturn ad on television? I've seen it a few times and I must admit, I like it, even if I find it hard to believe that anyone can get that excited about a car (of course I don't own a Saturn)! In this ad the wife does a voice over while the husband does everything he can to expound the virtues of his new Saturn. One shot has him lifting the hood for a neighbor, another has him talking to a passerby about the polymer fenders. This guy's got it so bad that he even carries brochures around in his trunk to give to people — we're talking major obsession here!

But what makes him obsessed? What's wrong with being so excited about something that you just can't help but tell people about it? Doesn't the world need more of that kind of excitement? I meet enough people with an "I've seen everything" attitude, it's nice to think that excitement is still experienced by some!

But, there's something that bothers me about that commercial. It made me think. I hate it when commercials do that! I had to ask myself, "Hey shouldn't the way this guy is acting about his car, be the way I should act about my relationship with Jesus?" Shouldn't we all be so excited about our salvation that we can't help but be obsessed with sharing our good news with others? I mean after all, our salvation has the best anti-rust guarantee in the business!

Points To Ponder

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for my salvation. I thank you that you came to give me life — real, joyful, meaningful life. I thank you for your grace. I thank you that you paid the price for my salvation when I had no hope of paying the price myself! Help me to never take that great gift for granted. Help me to live my life with the joy, peace and excitement I should. Finally Lord, help me to share the excitement of being saved with the world around me in an honest way that's unique to me and my gifts — in a way that's empowered by You. Thank you Lord, Amen!
