One key area of ministry in most churches is encouraging and training young people. Unfortunately, such ministry takes money. It is therefore the purpose of this months' Heavenly Top Ten' to help you with the task of raising the funds necessary to create a quality program. Without further comment, the September, 1999 Heavenly Top is:
“Top Ten Youth Group
Fund Raisers”
- Go door-to-door to sell "protection" from everyone else going door-to-door!
- Visit shut-ins and keeping them "shut in" until proper remuneration is received!
- Hold a "Silence-O-Thon", where sponsors pay if the youth group remains quiet and focused, during the entire sermon!
- Kidnap the Youth Minister and threaten to return him if the ransom isn't paid!
- Sell the parents of the youth group on a romantic weekend at home alone; then charge them the fee for the upcoming youth conference!
- Have the youth group clean up their rooms and donate all change found therein. This could finance youth activities for several years to come!
- Sell the parsonage. Note: this may require sending the Board and Senior Minister on a combined retreat!
- Invite former youth workers to a planning meeting. Then, suggest that their names could be forever removed from the 'Youth Worker Hit List" for a fee!
- Hold a "Car Wash Or Else!" When people ask what the "else" is, just have your teens smile knowingly!
- And the number one way to raise funds for your youth groups is:
- Help your youth group shine for Jesus!
The Heavenly Top Ten is intended to be a fun look at
issues of faith and fellowship. It should not be considered a serious treatment
of
any of the topics presented.
