On February 13th our congregation moved to two services. That got me to thinkin' (a rare thing).
So, without further adieu, the February 2005 Edition of the Heavenly Top Ten, is:
“Top Ten Reasons Why Our
Church
is Moving to Two Services”
- With the NHL thing not happening this year, people in Toronto are desperate for replays of any kind.
- Many mistakenly believe the myth that pastors only work one hour/week. We have proof that ours works at least two!
- Our pastor likes having twin boys so much that we decided we would have twin services as well!
- By splitting the congregation in two, the pastor thought there is less likely to be a mob mentality!
- They say practice makes perfect and our preacher is a perfectionist!
- Our pastor is making his sons watch the same sermon twice in payback for them watching the same Simpson episodes 512 times!
- Our pastor gets paid by the word.
- Hey, as a television culture, we all know that reruns are a fact of life!
- We figured that if we make the pastor preach twice on Sundays, then maybe his sermons might only be half as long!
- And the number one reason
our church is moving to two services is: - The truth is that we are growing and that is an exciting thing!
Thanks to Geoff Clarke for his help on this one!
The Heavenly Top Ten is intended to be a fun look at
issues of faith and fellowship. It should not be considered a serious treatment
of
any of the topics presented.
